250 Acres. A Million Plants. And You. NYBG Reopens: The New York Botanical Garden reopens on Tuesday, July 21 with its Appreciation Week for Garden Members, Bronx Neighbors and Bronx Health Care Workers that will run through July 26. The Garden will reopen to the public on July 28 from 10am to 6pm – members only hours from 10am to 11am. NYBG is open Tuesday to Sunday and select Holiday Mondays.
The Garden will reopen with reduced capacity and amenities. All visitors must reserve a timed-entry ticket online in advance of their visit. Everyone is required to wear a face mask. All indoor spaces and any collections where social distancing might not be possible will remain closed. Water fountains and bottle refill stations are temporarily deactivated. You can bring your own water or purchase at the Pine Tree Café which will also offer grab and go food service. Outdoor seating is available, as well as Pop-up dining at the Hudson Garden Grill Terrace and near the Rose Garden with snacks and refreshments, including beer and wine, on select dates..

No special events or exhibits were announced, rather NYBG is promoting its reopening as “250 Acres. A Million Plants. And You.” However, The Chilton Azalea Garden, Native Plant Garden, Perennial Garden, Conservatory Courtyards, Rockefeller Rose Garden, and most other outdoor collections and trails will be open and accessible to the public. Audio tours will also be available.
So what can you do there? Just chill out and “discover spectacular gardens and collections across our 250 acres. Walk the shaded trails of our old-growth forest. Relax near a sparkling natural waterfall in the Bronx River. Stroll along the Native Plant Garden’s breezy promenade and meadow. There’s so much to see—from vibrant palettes of daylilies and hydrangeas to the tranquil beauty of water lilies and lotuses.
