$3000 – A Modest Request to Keep TCO Going
$3000 – A Modest Request to Keep TCO Going: I know we’re delivering a never-ending litany of announcements from organizations in need. But this modest request reminded us of the bank run scene in It’s A Wonderful Life. After George Bailey explains why the Savings & Loan only has a portion of its assets held in reserve and can’t liquidate everybody’s account, one woman modest asks for $22.57. She got a big kiss on the cheek from George and her money.
Here’s the request from The Chappaqua Orchestra
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has affected TCO in the most devastating way. As you might be aware, we have decided to cancel/postpone the rest of our Spring season and move the Concerto Competition and Winners’ Concert to next Fall.
The beautifully performed March 8 concert took place at the onset of everyone deciding to stay away from large gatherings. The attendance was very low, which has resulted in a financial shortfall for TCO. Under the normal circumstances, we would have been in a much better position financially. We have payroll and bills to cover every month, and to help us through the Spring, we were counting on good attendance at our last concert. Additionally, by cancelling our April Together in Music Concert, we have lost a grant from the Town of New Castle. The musicians that we hire have been hit very hard by numerous concert cancellations. We take pride in offering income opportunities to these wonderful local performers. They need our help more than ever.
Our immediate needs are approximately $3,000. If we can raise this amount, TCO will be in a good position for the end of the season, and it will give us a good head start going into the Summer and next Fall.
