44th Annual Art Show Bedford: Two weekends of Art
The new expanded format of the 44th Annual Art Show: Bedford will kick off this year with a Preview Party at St. Matthew’s Fellowship Hall and will span two weekends this year, running from Friday, January 20 through Sunday January 29.
The Preview Party will feature a champagne reception with hors d’oeuvres catered by Bedford Gourmet. It will run from 6:30-9pm and is sure to attract the best of Bedford. Go for the art and stay for the people watching, as we like to say.
This year’s show is chaired by Laura Blau of Bedford and is produced in partnership with artists from Uprise Art and chashama in Manhattan, as well as popular local artists. It showcases a mix of contemporary and traditional art, sculpture and photography, plus unique jewelry, glass and pottery items. Art Show proceeds benefit local charities supported by the Women of St. Matthew’s.
Some of the artwork for sale at the show includes Untitled by Mitch Paster and three sculptures by Caleb Nussear that were installed at the Katonah Museum of Art in the summer of 2016. (Both pictured here.)
A Young Collector’s evening reception is also planned for Saturday, Jan. 28. Children’s craft activities (ART 4 KIDZ), led by chashama artist Roy Secord, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a snow date set for the following Saturday, Jan. 28.
The full show hours are Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show reopens on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 26 to 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Preview Party tickets are $100; $125 at the door. Admission is free on Saturday and Sunday, and on the following Thursday through Sunday. St. Matthew’s Church is located at 382 Cantitoe Street (Route 22) in Bedford. For more information, call 234-9636, or visit www.artshowbedford.com.
