Free! Local! Summer with Shakespeare – Chappaqua Public Library: As You Like it: Kenneth Branagh’s 2006 adaptation for the screen starring Kevin Kline. Wed, 7/6: The Taming of the Shrew: Franco Zeffirelli’s 1967 classic with Elizabeth Taylor as the hot-tempered Katherina and Richard Burton as Petruchio. Wed, 8/3: 7pm. The Twelfth Night: Trevor Nunn’s 1996 screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy of gender confusion, in which a girl disguises herself as a man to be near the count she adores, only to be pursued by the woman he loves. Sunday Music at NCPL: A Touch of Sinatra is a musical show, performed by Donnie Ferraro, about the life and music of the Chairman of the Board from his childhood in Hoboken, New Jersey to his death in 1998. While You Were Away: Love Songs of WWII: This one woman concert/lecture from Diane Cypkin tugs the heartstrings WWII style with songs such as “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)”, “Besame Mucho”, and “Boogie Woogie Bugle boy of Company B”. Shakespeare on the Green – As You Like It: Stamford’s professional theatre company, Curtain Call’s annual free Shakespeare productions are performed on a scaled-down version of the Globe Theatre stage nestled among the pine trees of the Sterling Farms Complex in Stamford. The park opens 90 minutes before the performance for picnicking. This year’s production is Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy set in France, As You Like It – famous for the “All the world’s a stage” speech. Thurs-Sun, 7/7-17: 7:30pm. Free Local! Bob Arthurs’ Jazz Trio – Chappaqua Library: Bob Arthurs is a jazz trumpet player who has been playing professionally for over four decades. He has played in clubs and at festivals in the New York area and abroad. New York venues include Birdland, Iridium, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cleopatra’s Needle, Somethin’ Jazz Club, Alice Tully Hall and Town Hall.
