Chicago City Limits, Palace Stamford – Fri, 4/7: 8pm. CCL, from NYC, returns to the Palace Theatre for their improvisational riffs on call outs from the audience. David Sedaris, Performing Arts Center Purchase – Sat, 4/8: 8pm: Best-selling author of Naked, and When You Are Engulfed in Flames, David Sedaris returns to The Center. Sedaris’s material mines his peculiar childhood in North Carolina, his bizarre career path and his life in Paris. He is well known for his unique and sophisticated observations on neuroses and drugs. Ladies of Laughter®, Emelin Theatre – Sat, 4/8: 8pm: This competition and tour has visited countless theaters, casinos and Madison Square Garden and has discovered some of the funniest women in comedy today including Amy Schumer and Tammy Pescatelli. Vic DiBitetto, Tarrytown Music Hall – Sat, 4/8: 8pm. The Grand Prize winner on ABC’s America’s Funniest People, DiBitetto’s Bread and Milk rant received over 15 million hits on YouTube and his Vignettes garnered another 8 million. He had a featured role in the hit movie Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and starred in Comedy You Can’t Refuse with the cast of The Sopranos. In a word “manic”. Gary Gulman, Ridgefield Playhouse – Sun, 4/9: 8pm. Gulman had his breakout on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Since then he has showcased his original routines on late night TV including Leno and Letterman. Kathleen Madigan, Bothering Jesus Tour, Ridgefield Playhouse – Fri, 4/28: 8pm. Kathleen Madigan has performed on nearly every standup television show ever made: Leno, Letterman, Conan, Ferguson and so on. iTunes named her hour-long special, Madigan Again, one of the Best Comedy Albums of 2013. She’s released 5 CDs and 3 DVDs and starred in 1 Netflix special, 1 Showtime special, 2 HBO specials, 3 Comedy Central specials and 3 CMT Salute to the Troops specials with Ron White. (80 E. Marion Grodin, Palace Stamford – Thurs, 5/4: 8pm. Noted for her “self-revealing” improvisational style, Marion Grodin is a regular headliner at Standup NY and Gotham Comedy Club. She has appeared on Conan O’Brien, toured with Lewis Black, Judy Gold and Robert Klein and has shared the stage with Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr and Robin Williams. Kevin Nealon, Ridgefield Playhouse – Thurs, 5/4: 8pm. Nealon is best known for his nine-year stint as a cast member of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where he was Franz of Hans and Franz the “pump you up” men. He has received critical acclaim for his role in the Showtime series, Weeds. His feature film credits include Anger Management, The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore and Daddy Day Care. Brian Reagan, Paramount Hudson Valley – Sat, 5/13: 8pm. One of Jerry Seinfeld’s favorite comedians, Reagan made history in 2015 with his live broadcast from Radio City Music Hall – the first in Comedy Central’s history. He has been featured in Chris Rock’s Film Top Five, Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and has released 6 TV specials including The Epitome of Hyperbole and I Walked on the Moon. The Cocoanuts, Jacob Burns Film Center – Wed, 5/17: 1 & 7pm: It’s not stand up but if you need a laugh, the Marx Brothers can always provide one. In their 1929 feature film debut, set during the 1920s Florida land boom, Groucho plays the manager of the Hotel de Cocoanut, a barely reputable establishment he runs with his assistant, Jamison (Zeppo). When two conmen—Chico and Harpo—arrive at the hotel, no guest is safe from their scheming, including poor Mrs. Potter, played by the great Margaret Dumont.
