Caramoor’s Fall Lineup: Caramoor moves inside for fall with seven great events. Including jazz, classical and American Roots music in the intimate 170 seat Rosen House Music Room. Including a couple where you can take your kids for free. Plus, Spooky Tales for Halloween.
Takács Quartet, Caramoor – Sun, 10/15: 3pm: From Budapest to Caramoor’s Rosen House Music Room, this multi-award-winning chamber group presents one of Haydn’s most ambitious chamber works, Shostakovich’s “sinister” String Quartet No. 11 in F Minor and Brahms’ “dainty” String Quartet in B-flat Major. Noam Pikelny and Ladybird, Caramoor – Sat, 10/21: 8pm: Winner of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo & bluegrass, Noam Pikelny is best known for his work with the country-classical fusion band Punch Brothers featuring mandolinist Chris Thile. Evnin Rising Stars I, Caramoor – Sat, 10/28: 8pm: Tickets are just $15 & $35 and kids under 18 go free to hear Caramoor’s young artists perform, with their mentor and distinguished artist Pamela Frank, violin, a program of Haydn, Mozart, Prokofiev and Schoenberg. Spooky Tales, Caramoor – Mon, 10/30: 3:30pm: Come with your little ones to a riveting storytelling performance celebrating Halloween. Following the performance, a special brew (hot cider) and other ghostly treats (cookies) will be served in the Summer Dining Room. Come in costume! Prizes given to all! Ages 3–8. Bria Skonberg, Caramoor – Sat, 11/4: 8pm: Canadian trumpet player and singer Bria Skonberg returns to Caramoor with her hot jazz quintet. Verona Quartet, Caramoor – Sun, 11/5: 3pm: Verona Quartet inaugurates their residency at Caramoor with a program of spirited classics of the string quartet repertoire by Ravel and Beethoven, as well as a new work by American composer Sebastian Currier which they premiered earlier this year. Richard Thompson, Caramoor – Sat, 12/2: 8pm: British folk rock legend Richard Thompson headlines Caramoor’s Fall Benefit Concert. This “mostly” tax deductible ticket gets you one of 170 seats in the intimate Rosen House Music Room to hear one of Rolling Stone’s Top 20 Guitarists of All Time.
