Colin Quinn, One In Every Crowd, Ridgefield Playhouse –Thurs, 1/11: 8pm: Former SNL Weekend Update anchor, brings his new one-man show to Ridgefield. Hot Ticket Alert! James Judd’s Funny Stories, The Palace Stamford – Thurs, 1/11: 7:30pm: This not ready for prime time attorney appeared on NPR’s Snap Judgment Live. A former member of LA’s The Groundlings, he has appeared on Star Search and Evening at the Improv. The Democrat and Chronicle compared him to “David Sedaris on a pot of coffee” and NPR’s Glynn Washington called him “one of the five funniest people alive.” (61 Atlantic Ave., Stamford; www.palacestamford)
Bobby Collins, Tarrytown Music Hall, Sat, 1/13: 8pm: This native New Yorker (Glen Oaks, Queens) started his career at Catch a Rising Star in NYC. He now lives in Santa Monica, CA and his routines mine the tensions between West Coast and East Coast cultural differences. Piff the Magic Dragon, Paramount Hudson Valley – Sat, 1/27: 8pm: The stand out star of season 10 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent returns to the Paramount. Think Larry David in a dragon suit performing magic tricks with his trademark Chihuahua, Mr. Piffles. Judy Gold and Bruce Vilanch: Big and Tall, Ridgefield Playhouse – Sat, 1/27: 8pm: The Emmy-winning Judy Gold is best known for her two critically acclaimed Off Broadway shows including 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother. A four-year Hollywood Squares participant, Bruce Vilanch is a six-time Emmy Award winning comic whose Hollywood insider humor earned him the head writer role for the Oscars. (80 E. Pilobulus Maximus – Beyond the Limits of Dance, Emelin Theatre – Sat, 2/3: 8pm: This new show from Pilobulus assembles the most diverse element of their dance repertoire in a series of changing worlds – from a circus to their most classical physical work. Named and “Irreplaceable Dance Treasure” by the Dance Heritage Coalition, Pilobulus has won a TED Fellowship, a 2012 Grammy-nom and several Cannes Lion Awards. Best Winter Dance! L.A. Dance Project, Performing Arts Center – Fri-Sat, 3/2-3: 8pm: Led by choreographer Benjamin Millipied, a former principal dancer for the New York City Ballet, who is also the husband of Natalie Portman and the choreographer of the film Black Swan, LADP brings a contemporary approach to art and movement. Millepied along with composer Nico Muhly and art consultant Matthieu Humery join forces to bring multi-disciplinary talents to the dance platform. Kilts & Leprechaun alert! The Irish Comedy Tour, Paramount Hudson Valley – Fri, 3/16: 8pm: Kilts and leprechauns, Irish fiddle music and laughs from four comedians whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle. Individually they have appeared on Comedy Central and Showtime, and won the All Ireland Talent Competition with their songs and tales about their mom’s dog, the holidays and dating a stripper. Forbidden Broadway, White Plains Performing Arts Center – Thurs, 3/23: 8pm: The 35th Anniversary tour of Forbidden Broadway comes to WPPAC! RUBBERBANDance Group, Performing Arts Center – Sat, 3/31: 8pm: Hip-hop meets the ballet in choreographer and dancer Victor Quijada and dancer and co-director Anne Plamondon’s RUBBERBANDance Group. Quijada, who began his career as a street dancer at the age of 8 went on to work with Twyla Tharp. Both influences can be seen in his contemporary works. Cheech and Chong, Capitol Theatre – Fri, 4/20:5:30pm: The comedy duo, Cheech and Chong recorded six gold comedy albums, receiving four Grammy-noms and won the 1973 Grammy for Best Comedy Recording with their seminal work Los Cochinos.
