Pleasantville Music Festival – New York’s Backyard Jam! The Pleasantville Music Festival (New York’s Backyard Jam) returns to Parkway Field* with a “full day of awesome” – 9 hours of music, 18 bands, 3 stages. Plus food, drink, friends, family and fun. The festival’s headliners include UK Post-Punk hit-makers The Psychedelic Furs, rising Americana stars The Lone Bellow and pedal steel master Robert Randolph and his Family Band. The full festival lineup includes up and coming indie-rockers, singer/songwriters and R&B, funk and hip-hoppers. Plus John Hall, founding member of Orleans (“Still the One” & “Dance With Me”) with special guest Fly Amero. Here’s the full lineup:
When you look up the cannon of new wave rock, the first page you turn to is The Psychedelic Furs. Sprung from the UK post-punk scene, they scored hits starting in the early 80’s with Love My Way (here), The Ghost in You, Heartbreak Beat, and the song that inspired the John Hughes movie, Pretty in Pink. In all, The Psychedelic Furs released seven studio albums, spawning several compilations, and influencing a new generation of alt rock artists, with Richard Butler’s haunting voice and lyrics, Tim Butler’s bass, and one of the most iconic sounds of our time. How do you define The Lone Bellow? How do you pin down the intensity, urgency, and spot-on harmonies? How do you neatly categorize their emotional honesty, song-crafting, and musicianship: Rock? Country? Folk? Revival? Blues? Bluegrass? Spiritual? Maybe the best answer is not to define the hard-driving Time’s Always Leaving (here), the raucous Green Eyes and a Heart of Gold, or the searing Then Came the Morning but to describe how the songs tear through you and awaken the joy, longing, and spirit within you. When you hear Robert Randolph & the Family Band, your feet will not let you sit still. This is a body-shakingly infectious mash of rock, funk, soul, jazz, jam, and gospel. From 107.1 the Peak favorite Going in the Right Direction (here) to Capitol Theatre-style jams to his new album, Got Soul, pedal steel master Robert Randolph shows why Rolling Stonenamed him to the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. You might say Crackeris of two minds. Yeah, it’s the minds of founders David Lowery and Johnny Hickman. It’s the slow brood of Low (here) and the hard drive of Get Off This. But it’s also two sets of California musical influences: the hard-rock northern Bay area scene and the twangy inland country scene. It’s a combination that’s worked for them for 24 years, with hits like Teen Angst and Euro-Trash Girl.
Their recent double album, Berkeley to Bakersfield, explores both sides of this band that’s amassed multiple gold albums, sell-out crowds, and an ever-growing fan base. Welcome Cracker to the Main Stage and SEE MORE CRACKER HERE.
JOHN HALL WITH SPECIAL GUEST FLY AMERO
What has John Hall not done? Founding member of Orleans with hits like Still the One and Dance with Me (here). Solo artist. Collaborator with multiple headliners. Environmental activist. Organizer of the No Nukes concerts. U.S. Congressman from New York. John is performing with Fly Amero, who joined Orleans during John’s solo and Congress years. Harsh Armadillo is six guys and a girl out of New Hampshire who don’t sleep until you’ve burnt through your insoles and tried that breakdance move from your 5th grade talent show. They create original music for moving to—a combination of funk and hip-hop roots with the bass, the drums, the horns, and the voices that hit like a vitamin for your soul.

If you’re a nightfly, you might be really familiar with Lizzie & the Makers. Staples of the New York City club scene and frequent performers at Garcia’s at the Capitol Theater. If you’re more of a morning person, now’s the time to see what you’ve been missing. With influences including the Black Crowes and Bonnie Raitt, Lizzie Edwards and the guys bring powerful vocals and whiplashingly evocative tunes like Hopeless (here) to every performance.

Man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man. Juice is an 8-man powerhouse out of Boston College with roots in Westchester. This multi-layered, multi-faceted, multi-talented group blends rock, R&B, and hip-hop into a signature sound that makes you move. Add in electric violin, hooky lyrics, rap, and tight harmonies like in Sugar (here), and you may have trouble keeping your jaw off the floor.
They’ve played the Rockwood, Mercury, Middle East, Summerfest Milwaukee, and opened for PMF alums Ripe at the Capitol Theatre. And now we’re happy to welcome Juice to the Pamnation Party Stage. SEE MORE JUICE HERE.
Some of the hottest up-and-coming bands are coming out of Mahopac. Take Friends At The Falls, a tight five-piece with great musicianship, well-formed songs, and killer vocals. They list the Killers, Coldplay, and Springsteen among their influences, although you might also hear shades of the Cure or Dream Academy in songs like A Heart To Save (here).
When they’re not sprinting up bluffs, jumping off cliffs, and sleeping on roofs, they’re wowing crowds at venues like Webster Hall. And we can’t wait to see these Friends on the Pamnation Party Stage. Make sure to check them out and SEE MORE FRIENDS AT THE FALLS HERE
Chanelle is an all-female band formed by singer-songwriter and lead vocalist, Christine Chanel. In 2017, she invited drummer, Dana Mancuso and bassist, Michelle Nadler to help complete her album. Within weeks, the trio made their debut, Rumortown (here), and quickly gained praise for their soulful vocals, jazzy keyboards, and smooth arrangements.
Chanelle has been taking the area by storm in the last year, playing the Bitter End, Casa del Sol in Nyack, and Lucy’s Lounge right here in Pleasantville. Look for them in a club near you, and welcome this talented trio to the Chill Tent Stage. SEE MORE CHANELLE VIDEOS HERE.
If you’re familiar with the Westchester music scene, you probably know all about Dan Zlotnick. This 26-year-old out of Somers, New York, honed his craft gigging between road games as a professional baseball player, and has played everywhere you can swing a bat, including the Paramount, where he opened twice for PMF headliner Marc Cohn.
Dan combines thoughtful lyrics about romance and the road with a voice like Ray LaMontagne and songs like She’s A Little Bit ( here) that that go from heartfelt to honky-tonk. Come see Dan on our Chill Tent Stage and SEE MORE DAN ZLOTNICK VIDEOS HERE
Spend just a few seconds listening to Late Night Episode, and you can’t help but get hooked. Imagine a Chili-Peppers-style smooth-brood and slap bass, paired with all-hands-on-deck modern pop, filtered through New York rowdy rock. It’s a lot to take in and a lot to discover. But this four-piece out of Scarsdale, New York, by way of the East Village has it all. Great musicianship, hook-laden songs like Golden Age (here), full-tilt production, and on-stage charisma.

A lot’s being said about Loose Buttonsthese days: This Lower East Side four-piece’s sound has been described as “a blend of new wave and pop all their own” (Billboard), “irresistibly sincere” (Consequence of Sound), a “garage-rock-pop good time” (Vice) and “scuzzed-out indie sound” (Nylon).
With songs that range from crunchy-rhythm-based Two Wolves (here) to layered, fuzzed-out Thrill to the moody, beach-twang-laden Am I The Only Reason, it’s no surprise that the band is catching national fire. Combine the voice of John Mayer or Jamie Cullum, the musical skills of Ed Sheeran, and Isley Brothers-inspired sounds, and you get Tim Stout, a name you need to know, based here in New York. Having grown up listening to funk, R&B, and pop, Stout melds modern pop sensibilities with a vintage vibe. Groovy and vivacious, his sound is driven by impassioned vocals and nuanced guitar compositions with loopers and pedals for a multilayered solo show.

Hailing from the Southern Tier of New York, Emily Angell is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and producer who can be seen all over Westchester and Connecticut. She’s been compared to Alanis Morissette, Jewel, and Christina Aguilera—a pretty diverse set—with a sound that sits just as comfortably in folk and roots as electro-pop.
Emily combines motivating, inspiring lyrics, with a strong, steady optimism. Her EPs The Upset (2011) and Let Go (2015) have earned her amazing reviews and airtime. Check out her 2017 single, I Got This (here), and welcome Emily to the Chill Tent Stage. SEE MORE EMILY ANGELL HERE.

Guitarist Paul Beladino and drummer Jake Albi have been playing together for over 10 years, including a spot on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour at Jones Beach. Now, with bassist Tom Davis, this Westchester power trio blends a gamut of rock influences for a sound that’ll get your blood flowing for the day. No wonder they won our Battle of the Bands.

It’s 12 noon. You just brought your family and all your gear to the Pleasantville Music Festival. And now, it’s time to chill out and see Battle of the Bands winner David Vogel. David is a 20 year-old singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music teacher and music producer from Valhalla, New York who has been singing for audience since he was four.
David combines his love of indie folk and 80’s pop with a pure voice, impassioned lyrics, and sonorous guitar and keyboards. Look for his EP Until My Lungs Give, watch his video for Be Alright (here), and get here early to see David take the Chill Tent Stage at noon. VISIT DAVID’S PAGE HERE.
Parkway Field is located at 48 Marble Avenue in Pleasantville. Despite the name, there is no parking at Parkway Field. But not to worry. There’s plenty of free parking at nearby Pace University. (861 Bedford Rd., Pleasantville. Free round-trip shuttle bus service between Pace and Parkway Field will be provided from 10:30 am to 10:00 pm.
