Run the Farm 5M & Kids Run: Muscoot’s farm races offer a tough (but scenic) 5 mile course around the farm and through the woods; a 1.1 mile race for kids (7-12), and a .6 mile run for kids under 6. Runners receive farm bucks to use at the Farmer’s Market. Kids races start at 8:30 & 8:45am. The Run the Farm 5M fun begins at 9:30am. Check out the farmers market, animals and historic buildings after the race.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before race start to park, get race bib, pick up shirt (if ordered), and get warmed up! At the end of the races, participants get “Farm Bucks” to spend in the Farmer’s Market.
The Run the Farm 5M race course is a trail run. It passes through farm roads, forests, meadows, along steep hills, and over stone walls. There are some small seasonal streams and one wooden bridge. But no large stream crossings. The two largest hills are at the one mile and the three mile marks. The first is long and not so steep. The second is short and steep. Depending on the weather some of the course may be wet and muddy but most of the course is well drained.
The Kids Run is divided into two age groups. Kids ages 6 and under run a 0.6 mile (1k) course. Kids ages 7-12 years old run a 1.1 mile (2k) course. Both courses are entirely on trails and dirt tracks on the farm. No pavement will be crossed.
Both races fill up about a week before the race date.
The race is put on to show off the beauty of the Muscoot park and to increase awareness of the weekly Muscoot Farmer’s market (Sundays from May-November) and other local farmer’s markets in the area.
