Violinist Rachel Podger at Caramoor: Praised as “Britain’s finest period violinist” (BBC Music Magazine), Rachel Podger has injected new life into the Baroque tradition. Her affinity for the Baroque began at an early age and drove her to master the Baroque violin. She went on to co-found the period group Palladian Ensemble. She was an early member of Floriegium and led The English Concert from 1997 to 2002. In 2018, she was named Gramophone’s ‘Artist of the Year.’ Rachel Podger’s passion for Baroque masterpieces shines through lifting the beauty of these works and the skill of their composers to the forefront.

Caramoor’s Music Room offerings include chamber performances, recitals, opera, acoustic American roots music, jazz, American songbook, and lectures. The Music Room is available to rent for private events.
The majestic Music Room includes Renaissance furniture and architectural elements such as the intricately carved coffered ceiling from a house in Lecce, Italy. It also features a pair of pink marble twisted columns from Verona, once in the collection of William Randolph Hearst. Other notable collections include Urbino maiolica, tin glazed earthenware for Italy and works by Della Robbia and Old Masters. Don’t miss the magnificent Franco-Flemish Tapestry titled “The Holy Family.” Finally, from a slightly later period, our 18th-century needlework chairs delight Music Room visitors.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Rosen House is a work of living history. You can enjoy the Rosen House in many ways: take a tour, enjoy an Afternoon Tea, hear a concert in the Music Room or Spanish Courtyard, or attend a fundraising event.
Filled with examples of fine and decorative Asian and Renaissance art, the House offers a number of treasures. Including complete 18th-century rooms, originally from private villas and chateaux in Italy, France, and England. The Burgundian Library is a French 17th-century, paneled room with a brilliant blue groin-vaulted ceiling. An exquisite 16th century painted Spanish ceiling resides in an alcove off the Music Room.
