The American Gold Cup & Family Fun Fest: North Salem: With a half million dollars in prize money, The American Gold Cup is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in International Show Jumping. Held over five days at the historic Old Salem Farm, it attracts the best competitors in the world. Saturday and Sunday’s competitions offer the big prize $$’s. Held over five days, the American Gold Cup showcases world-class competitive show jumping. Tuesday through Friday mornings there are qualifying competitions. But this is all inside show jumping, so to speak. The serious competitions are held on Saturday with the family entertainment and shopp9ing starting at 10am. On Sunday, the Family Fun Fest begins at 11am. Finally, the $210,000 Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM competition is at 2pm.
The world governing body of equestrian sport, the FEI, has designated the event as a CSI 4*-W competition. It is also a Longines FEI Jumping World Cup North American League qualifier. It is one of only a handful of competitions in the United States that have the privilege and the honor of having this designation.
The coveted $210,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup New York for the American Gold Cup on Sunday, September 15, is the primary goal. Carrying the prestigious designation of a World Cup Qualifier, makes this event most important to the sport and to those athletes in pursuit of making it to the World Cup Finals.
For national riders, the competition offers young jumper competitions as well as amateur and junior jumper competitions at a variety of skill levels.
Now in its 49th year, it will once again be broadcast on NBC Sports.
