A Taste of Westchester: The Grille at Somers Pointe: One of ATOW’s favorite instructors is back. Chef Tom Costello, formerly of Thyme in Yorktown Heights is now executive chef at The Grille at Somers Pointe. The Grille is the restaurant and grand event space at the Somers National Golf Course in Heritage Hills. Owned by Perry and Vincenza DiNapoli it a sister establishment to The Briarcliff Manor. At this class, Chef Costello offers a lesson on how to prepare beef short ribs over creamy polenta. Then he moves on to a how-to on prepping branzino fillets, and roasting parsnips to puree with caper butter sauce. The curriculum concludes with a demonstration of the easy way to create Nutella chocolate mousse adorned with whipped cream and strawberry coulis. Enjoy a wine pairing with each course for an additional $12.
A Taste of Westchester Cooking classes are part of the Westchester Community College Adult Education program. Each class is offers a live demo, often interactive, with an outstanding local chef. After the demonstrations everyone eats the lesson plan. Usually with an expertly paired glass of wine or craft beer, courtesy of the chef.
