Summer Day Camps to Open on June 29
Summer Day Camps to Open on June 29? Camp owners or parents with camp age children breathed a sigh of relief today when Governor Cuomo announced that New York will allow summer day camps to open starting June 29. No word on sleep away camps yet, however, the Governor acknowledged that sleep aways is actively under review. The state, however, has not released safety guidelines for summer camps. But they’re coming, too.
Safety measures are likely to address issues related to minimizing camp capacity, social distancing, mask protocols, sanitary guidelines and health screenings. Six New York regions have already qualified for Phase 2 on the NY Forward Plan, Cuomo has set to guide the reopening of the New York economy. The Capital Region is expected to be approved for Phase 2 tomorrow. And, as we previously reported, George Latimer told the Armonk Chamber of Commerce last Thursday that Westchester is expected to be open for Phase 2 (offices, retail, salons) by June 9 and for Phase 3 (restaurants) by June 23.
Camps, along with entertainment, recreations and education falls into Phase 4 of the NY Forward plan.
