Extreme Socially Distanced Live Events @ RPH
Extreme Socially Distanced Live Events @ RPH: The Ridgefield Playhouse has responded to the coronavirus pandemic with a series of cutting edge innovations enabling them to continue to bring quality arts and entertainment to our area. Over the summer they were quick to jump on to the outdoor movie trend and followed up in short order with a host of outdoor events held at a ball field adjacent to the theater. Their outdoor lineup featured music, comedy and kids entertainment highlighted by quality name acts such as Martin Sexton, Mike Birbiglia, Grace Potter and Johnny Peers Muttville Comix.
Best of all, they have successfully managed the transition to the indoor A&E season with a combination of livestream and LIVE EXTREME SOCIALLY DISTANCED EVENTS. Even thought the Connecticut Department of Health allows for indoor theater events to continue at 50% capacity, the Ridgefield Playhouse offers all indoor events, including movies and live performances, at LESS THAN 20% CAPACITY. With a seating capacity of 536 – all Ridgefield Playhouse events are CAPPED AT 100 TICKETS PER PERFORMANCE. Further safety precautions include ushered seating, concessions ordered from your smart phone only, and of course masks are required at all times.
Live & Live-streamed Events, Movies and more
Some of the Playhouse’s live events are offered both live and live-streamed such as this month’s Funny How It Happens, A Valentine’s Celebration with Broadway stars Kelli Barrett who in addition to playing Liza Minnelli in FX’s Fosse/Verdon has starred in Doctor Zhivago, Wicked, Baby It’s You; and Jarrod Spector (Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, Jersey boys and The Cheer Show). Grammy Award-Nominee and 6-time New York Music Award-winner Sophie Hawkins (“Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover,” ) will also perform live and live-streamed this month.
In addition to live events, The Ridgefield Playhouse continues to screen an almost daily lineup of classic movies and documentaries, as well as National Theatre Live in HD performances, Met Opera in HD, and an Art on Film Series.
