Katonah Village Library: Living Memory: Indigenous Stories of Our Past, Present & Future
The Katonah Museum and the Katonah Village Library, will present a special exhibition titled “Living Memory: Indigenous Stories of Our Past, Present, and Future,” to honor the descendants of the Mohican people who once populated the lower Hudson Valley. It will be on view at the Katonah Village Library in the same space where a prior exhibition from which the current one is derived was displayed nearly 40 years ago from October 1 to 26.
On October 1, at 4 pm at the Katonah Village Library, Shannon Holsey, President of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, will speak about the Great Diaspora and the difficult journey the community’s ancestors took in search of a new home. Ms. Holsey is president of the Stockbridge-Munsee band of Mohican Indians.
