Lenten Faith In Film Series at The Bedford Playhouse
Join the Rev. John Zahl of St. Matthew’s, Bedford, for a “Lenten Film Series: Faith in Film” on Sunday nights, Feb 26 – March 26th, at 6pm. The Reverend will present a thought-provoking selection of special movies, exploring themes of conversion, humility, forgiveness, faith in the midst of suffering, and grace.
Featuring Ingrid Bergman in Roberto Rossellini’s Europe ’51; Rock Hudson’s breakout role in Douglas Sirk’s melodrama Magnificent Obsession with Jane Wyman; Mia Farrow in a madcap fantasy adventure with Joe Mantegna in Alice; Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman in the post-Apocalyptic The Books of Eli, and William Wyler’s classic The Best Years of Our Lives, about the challenges three service men who return from WWII face trying to pick up the pieces of their lives. The film won seven Academy Awards and starred Dana Andrews, Myrna Loy, Fredrick Marc, and Virginia Mayo.
Includes a brief introduction by Rev. Zahl followed by a short discussion afterwards.
