This may be the coolest film series JBFC has ever curated. And these big-time action classics (plus a few quirky deep cuts into the genre) are perfectly timed for summer. The series opens, appropriately, on July 4 with a screening of the fire spewing alien spaceship disaster classic Independence Day starring Will Smith. And continues through August 20 with an inspired curation of car chase, explosion and fisticuff flicks that travels from the apocalyptic world of Mad Max: Road Warrior 2, through the genteel shaken – not stirred world of the James Bond classic Goldfinger and into cyber territory withThe Matrix and Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 3D. Taking time out for pit stops through high octane comedies with the uproariously funny UK crime fighter Hot Fuzz, and Jackie Chan’s goofball martial arts epic Police Story.
