Clearwater Festival 2013: Judy Collins
Judy Collins is just one of the reasons that Outside Magazine calls the Clearwater Festival one of the top four music festivals in the country. She will be joined by some of the greatest musical icons in American roots music on seven sustainably powered stages including Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson, Hot Tuna, David Bromberg, Mavis Staples, Son Volt and over 90 other performers. In addition to the music the Clearwater Festival 2013 offers a weekend of fun and educational activities for kids and their families.
You can book a ride on the sloop Clearwater or the schooner Mystic Whaler. If that’s too much of a production for you there’s a host of other river attractions including canoe and kayak rides, guided walks along the shore, beach combing and river seining. Other kids and family attractions include: a family stage, a musical petting zoo, education tents, instrument building workshops, jugglers, clowns, new vaudevillians and a full scale mask and puppet theater.
The Clearwater Festival 2013 provides exhibit and vendor areas that resonate with the mission of Clearwater. Walk the festival grounds to experience their field attractions such as an Activist Area, Artisanal Food & Farm Market, Clearwater’s Environmental Action Tent, Green Cities Tent, Green Living Expo, a Food Court and a Juried Handmade Crafts and Fine Art exhibit.
Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the river over forty years ago, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revivalhelped raise the funds to build the sloop Clearwater, which has since become a world-renowned floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action. Today, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. is a non-profit organization that sails at the forefront of the nation’s environmental challenges. The revenue raised by the Revival goes to support Clearwater’s numerous educational programs and its work toward environmental and social justice—as well as keeping the sloop Clearwater afloat. Sat-Sun, 6/15-16: beginning at 9am. Stage Schedule. (Croton Point Park, Croton on Hudson) www.clearwaterfestival.org
