Local! The Creation by Haydn, Westchester Oratorio Society, ChappPac, Sun, 5/5: 3pm: Westchester Oratorio Society (WOS) presents Joseph Haydn’s great work “The Creation” (“Die Schöpfung”). Considered a masterpiece of the oratorio tradition, Die Schöpfung celebrates the creation of the world as described in the “Book of Genesis.” Scored for chorus, three soloists and symphonic orchestra, it debuted in Vienna in 1799. The concert will feature soloists Catherine Steinbrink, Soprano, Jeffrey Strand, Tenor and David Salsbery Fry, Bass, and the WOS Festival Orchestra. Long Island Sound Lighthouse Cruise, Maritime Aquarium Norwalk, Sat, 5/11: 1:15-3:45pm: Venture out on the Maritime Aquarium’s Spirit of the Sound catamaran for rare close-up looks at five lighthouses from Norwalk’s Sheffield Island Lighthouse to the lighthouse at Stratford Shoal near Bridgeport, CT. Local! 6th Annual Stayin’ Alive 5K & Fun Run, Armonk, Sat. 5/18: 8am: The run starts at The Windmill Club and continues through Windmill’s woodsy community. Stayin’ Alive has raised $150,000 for needed equipment for first responder’s in North Castle (Armonk, Banksville & N. White Plains) and surrounding towns.
