Armonk Indoor Sports Center Opens September 10
Armonk Indoor Sports Center Opens September 10: Armonk Indoor Sports Center’s twin inflatable domes will be up by September 10 and a new season will begin at Westchester’s premier indoor athletic facility. Conveniently located in Armonk’s Community Park, Armonk Indoor provides a wide range of after-school, weekend and holiday tennis and field sports programs for kids, teens and adults.
This 46,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art complex is managed by Armonk Sports Group which also owns and manages Armonk Tennis Club. The two domes split duties between Armonk Indoor’s tennis and field sports programs.
The 22,000 square-foot turf field, in the Sportsplex Dome, plays host to leagues, tournaments, team practices, classes, clinics, parties and corporate events. The tennis dome offers four championship DecoTurf tennis courts (the same surface used at the National Tennis Center) with cutting-edge lighting and climate control. Armonk Indoor is home to the Armonk International Tennis Academy run by director Greg Anderson, brother of Wimbledon and US Open Finalist, Kevin Anderson. The Academy boasts a high performance elite training program for the area’s top junior players. Armonk Indoor’s staff of tennis pros also offer clinics and leagues to accommodate players from age three through adults.
Both domes operate seven days a week from 6am-11pm, September through May. Here are some of the programs and activities they have planned:
The Tennis Dome
Adult Tennis: In the tennis dome, Armonk Indoor runs group clinics, private lessons and playing programs for adult tennis players of various skill levels. Their Women’s Clinics and Women’s Cardio Tennis are two popular instructional programs. If you want to get into some games, Armonk Indoor’s recreational and competitive adult playing programs include USTA teams for rated players, an Intra-club Singles League. Or you can sign up for seasonal courts to make your own games.
Junior Tennis: In addition to the Armonk International Tennis Academy, their flagship intensive program for dedicated junior players, Armonk Indoor offers a Junior Development Program for all ages and skill levels. Designed to provide kids with an enjoyable experience as well as the greatest opportunity to reach their full potential, the Junior Development Program offers four levels of training with each level building on the skills developed in the prior program.
Beginning with Pee-Wee Tennis, Armonk Indoor’s Tennis Tots, Tennis Challenger and Tennis Champs programs can take your child (3 ½-16) from Beginner Level through Intermediate and Advanced tennis. Armonk Indoor also hosts USTA-sanctioned tournaments fall through spring.
The Sportsplex Dome
The field sports clinics and leagues offered at Armonk Indoor are designed to help younger kids learn the fundamentals and for older players to hone their skills. Their programs are specifically designed for each age group and run by experienced coaches. They emphasize fun, as well as the spirit of competition and sportsmanship, while making sure that every athlete improves in their chosen sport.
Soccer: Soccer moms (and kids) will be happy to find six different Soccer clinics offered at Armonk Indoor. They range from Little Kicks Soccer for ages 2-3 through Elite Soccer Skills Clinics for grades 3-7. Beginning in December, Armonk Indoor hosts adult and youth winter soccer leagues and tournaments. The Armonk Indoor facility is also the winter home of the Westchester Women’s Soccer league.
Lacrosse, Baseball, Field Hockey & Football: For kids who want to have fun and develop their skills in a particular sport, Armonk Indoor offers Field Hockey and Football clinics for grades K-5; an Elite Lacrosse Clinic for grades 1-8, and two Baseball Clinics for grades 1-4 and 5-6.
Multi-Sports: If your child is a sports fanatic who just wants to play and have fun, Armonk Indoor offers two Multi-Sports Clinics. At Little Sports (ages 3-5) and Multi-Sport (grade K-5) kids play a variety of field sports including soccer, wiffle ball, team handball, flag football, dodge ball, and gaga under the supervision of qualified instructors.
Holiday Sports Clinics: Armonk Indoor can even help your kid stay active during school vacations with fun and instructional holiday clinics. Boys and girls, grades K-3, play soccer, flag football, dodge ball, handball, baseball, gaga and capture the flag at their Spring Break Multi-Sport Camp. Their President’s Week Soccer Camp will get boys and girls, ages 6-12, ready for the spring season.
Parties, Special Events & Rentals at the Twin Domes
Every year, Armonk Indoor hosts over 100 parties ranging from kids’ field sports birthday parties and tennis parties to arts & crafts parties and adult events. Their dedicated staff helps organize your event to ensure its success whether it’s a small birthday party, a large fundraiser, corporate event or school reunion.
Birthday parties on Armonk Indoor’s turf field can include games such as soccer, baseball, flag football, dodge ball, Capture the Flag, and relay races. They also have a gaga pit, and past parties have even featured inflatables. When the games are done there is comfortable space to enjoy food and drinks.
For parties that are a little mellower, Armonk Indoor offers arts & crafts activities. You can also party on the other side of the facility. The tennis dome’s four tennis courts ensure that everyone gets ample playing time. Past events for the adult crowd range from casual parties to elegant fundraisers.
Parties or events can be scheduled for any time of the day during the fall and spring sessions. During the winter (December-March), availability is more limited due to clinics during the week and league play on weekends. However, Armonk Indoor reserves time for one party each Saturday through the winter sessions. There is also availability during scheduled school breaks and shortened days.
Finally, the turf field can be rented out entirely or in sections for team training, league play, tournaments and special events. Armonk Indoor trainers are available to assist your team.
