Amadeus Conservatory of Music & Theatre Summer Camp, Chappaqua: Amadeus campers get a music/musical theatre twofer at this musical theatre camp. In this performance camp, every child has the opportunity to perform musical theater, learn acting and choreography, compose their own songs, create sets and gets a meaningful role in the show in this six-week camp. Campers can also receive a private weekly lesson in a band or orchestra instrument, and a semi-private lesson in a second instrument or voice. One to five week sessions also available. Harvey Summer Camp, Katonah: Held on the 125-acre Harvey School campus, this electives-based camp for boys and girls, entering 1st grade through 9th grade, enables campers to design their own summer program from over 80 electives, including theater, dance, music, fine arts, crafts, robotics, and science. Jacob Burns Film Center Summer @ The Lab: At JBFC’s one-week Lab Camps, young filmmakers, grades 3-12 conceive, write, and shooting a series of episodes using Adobe PremierePro, After Effects for distribution on You Tube. At their 3-week Summer Coop, campers, grades 9-12, make a collaborative movie. Over three weeks, groups pitch, script, shoot, and edit an original narrative short. Logrea Dance Academy, Ossining: Beth Fritz-Logrea and Jean Logrea, Co-Directors of the Westchester Ballet Company, offer a four week Ballet Intensive for ages 3-17. Their Academy dancers have, upon graduation, moved on to prestigious ballet companies including The Stuttgart Ballet, The San Diego Ballet, Ballet Washington, Ballet Charleston, and Ballet Austin. Lagond Music School, Elmsford: Jazz icon,Charlie Lagond’s famed music school in Elmsford offers 5, one-week programs for band, vocals, keyboards, winds, brass and guitar for ages 10-13; including a Beginner Band program and a three-week Summer Immersion program for ages 10-18. Random Farms Kids Theatre, Elmsford: Here’s your young thespians ticket to Broadway. Over fifty Random Farms students have landed roles on Broadway at this year round children’s theatre program. In the summer they offer four, 2-week Workshop Intensives that culminate in a staged performance for kids entering grades 2-9. Plus a Summer MainStage production. School of Rock Bedford: At the School of Rock one-week summer camps designed for musicians of all skill levels who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals, kids, ages 7-18, receive private lessons and work in a hands on environment learning the nuts and bolts of playing in a band. The week ends with a live performance at a local venue. Our boy did a one-week camp with SOR and never left. Standing Ovations Studios Armonk Summer Workshop: These one-week, themed workshops run all summer long. There’s a new theme each week and a showcase performance at the end of each week. Kids act, sing, dance, play instruments and wear pajamas to camp on Thursdays. SOS is the home of the Lighthouse Youth Theatre, from John and Nannette Fanelli, that runs year-round workshops and Main Stage performance programs for per-K through grade 12, including the audition-only Protege Troupe. Steffi Nossen School of Dance, White Plains: SNSD offers six summer programs: Storybook Camp for 3-5 year olds; Dance and Hip Hop Camps for grades 1-5; two Musical Theatre programs for grades 2-5 and 6-12; Dance Intensive for grades 5-8, and Choreography Camp for grades 3-7. Steffi Nossen opened SNSD in 1937, as a college to teach the Steffi Nossen Method to dance instructors. Summer Stage at ARC Stages Pleasantville: ARC Stages offers four summer theatre camps for ages K-12. Summer Theatre Academy at White Plains Performing Arts Center: In a partnership with the Westchester Sandbox Theatre, WPPAC offers one and two week sessions for different age groups, and every session ends in performance for family and friends, open to the general public.
