Lasdon’s Music in the Park, Dan Zlotnick – Fri, 7/6: 7 – 9pm: He’s a former Somers HS baseball star and he caught Aaron Judge’s rookie record 50th home run at Yankee Stadium. (Gave it to the Judge for free!) He recently opened for Marc Cohn at the Paramount Hudson Valley with his repertoire of original acoustic songs inspired by the blues and classic rock. What a guy! Joe Jackson, Tarrytown Music Hall – Fri, 7/6: 8pm: One of our faves. His jazz-inflected pop sound was a genre unto itself in the age of New Wave surprises. His seminal albums Look Sharp and Night and Day still are in rotation at WTD’s house! With their iconic hits such as “Is She Really going Out With Him”, “Stepping Out”, “It’s Different for Girls”, “Breaking Us In Two”, “Look Sharp”, “Sunday Papers” and “Chinatown”. I’m With Her, American Roots, Caramoor Spanish Garden – Sat, 7/7: 8pm: Americana darlings, singer/songwriters Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan combined talents to record the album See You Around under the moniker I’m With Her in February. Here they take their “Americana supergroup” on the road with fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Pleasantville Music Festival – Sat, 7/14: 12-9pm: Eighteen bands on three stages equals nine hours of music. Festival headliners include The Psychedelic Furs, the UK post-punk band best known for their hits “Love My Way” and “Pretty in Pink”; The Lone Bellow, a Brooklyn-based Americana band whose eponymous debut album in 2013 charted on four separate Billboard Charts and appeared on 10 Best Of year-end lists, and Robert Randolph and The Family Band. Randolph, a pedal steel mater was named to Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list and regularly performs at The Capitol Theatre. Glen Hansard, Capitol Theater– Fri, 7/27: 8pm: Vocalist and guitarist for the irish group The Frames and half of the folk rock duo The Swell Season, Hansard’s 2015 album Didn’t He Ramble received a Grammy Award nomination. Hansard also appeared in the Bafta Award-Winning movie The Commitments and starred in the film Once,for which he won the Academy Award for Best Song.
