Sleeping with Wolves, Wolf Conservation Center – Friday & Select Saturdays 9/1 -10/20: 6pm- 8:30am. Camp out overnight with 20+ wolves that call the WCC in South Salem home! It’s cheaper than a trip to Yellowstone – and you’ll leave a much smaller carbon footprint. Fall Festival & Halloween Train Show, Lasdon Park – Sat- Mon: 10/6-8 & Sat-Sun, 10/13-10/28: 10am-4pm: At this Fall Festival cum Halloween Train Show, Lasdon’s Main House is spooked out with decorations. There’s music, face painting, an animal embassy, Louie the T-Rex, a Halloween Crazy Maze, beer tastings, food trucks and, of course the Model Train display. Hot Ticket Alert! Annual Stone Barns Harvest Fest – Sat, 10/6: 10am-3pm: Their 15th annual celebration and fundraiser will be a hot ticket so sign up early. THIS EVENT ALWAYS SELLS OUT! Live music, hay rides and educational tours throughout the farm. There’s farm demonstrations and a close up look at the farm’s animals. Heritage Apple Fest at Boscobel – Sat, 10/6: 9am-4pm: Celebrate Hudson Valley harvests, overlooking West Point & the Hudson River at Boscobel’s Heritage Applefest. Featuring live music, sweet and hard cider sampling, and press-your-own cider as well as family games and activities. In addition to sweet and hard cider, apple cider doughnuts, apple cider butter, and apple cider syrup will be available for purchase from local vendors. Local! The Pound Ridge Harvest Festival ROCKS, FEATURED ARTIST: CRACKER, Pound Ridge Town Park, Sat, 10/13: 1-6pm: Come on Armonk, Bedford & Chappaqua, you’re not trying hard enough! The Pound Ridge Harvest Festival features activities for kids, a craft beer garden for adults, and a root beer garden for kids, wine tastings, a Scarecrow Content and BBQ for all. This year’s featured music act is Cracker, the “country/gurnge/rock” band best known for it’s gold-selling 1993 album Kerosene Hat, including hit songs “Low” and “Euro-Trash Girl”. Local! Zero Waste Challenge Trash Bash, Bedford Hills Memorial Park, Sat, 10/13: 10am-1pm: This event kicks off Bedfod 2020’s Zero Waste Challenge. This outdoor event includes games, food, and fun around recycling, reducing plastic, eliminating food waste, composting, and more! Chappaqua Harvest Fest Pumpkin Patch, Church of St. Mary The Virgin, Sat, 10/13: 11am-3pm: Buy your Halloween pumpkin at this event at St. Mary The Virgin, next to Bell Middle School. On Saturday, there will will games, face painting, crafts, photo ops, pumpkin decorating and a pie sale, donuts, cider and hot dogs. My Perfect Pet, Emelin Theatre, Sun, 10/14: 11am & 1:30pm: This original musical follows Cailin Green and her friends Amy and Josh to school on her 10th birthday. She has just one wish for her birthday, a very special puppy she spotted in a shelter. The Book of Life, Jacob Burns, Sat, 10/20: 12pm: In Jorge Gutierrez’s 2014 animated film, three childhood friends, a bullfighter, a soldier and a very independent girl embark on an el Dia de los Muertos adventure that spans three fantastical worlds, two gods from the Underworld and a wager on who will marry Maria. Run the Farm 5M, Muscoot Farm, Sun, 10/21: 9:30am & Kids Mile: 8:30am: Muscoot’s farm races offer a tough (but scenic) 5 mile course around the farm and through the woods; a 1.1 mile race for kids (7-12), and a .6 mile run for kids under 6. Runners receive farm bucks to use at the Farmer’s Market. Races start at 8:30, 8:45 & 9:30am. Arrive 30 minutes before race start time. The Real Wicked Witches of Halloween Hills, Emelin Theatre, Sun, 10/28: 11am & 1:30pm: On All Hallows Eve the world’s most notorious witches compete for the title of Supreme Witch! But someone is trying to mess up the contest? Can a young witch apprentice, a skeleton boy, and a cat named Pumpkin uncover who is trying to control The Real Wicked Witches of Halloween Hills? Pandas, IMAX Movies, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, Daily: check times: The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is open daily year-round featuring a full range of aquarium exhibits such as a sea turtle nursery. It also features a seven story IMAX screen that shows four movies daily including Pandas, a new movie following Chinese biologists teaching a baby panda survival skills from its first steps. Pride of the Hudson River Cruise, Newburg, Fri-Sun & select weekdays, 8/31-10/28: check times: See the majestic beauty of the Hudson River on this 2-hour narrated river adventure from Newburgh to West Point taking in the sights of Washington’s Headquarters, World’s End, Mt. Planetarium Shows, Hudson River Museum, Sat-Sun: 9/1-30: 12:30, 2 & 3:30pm: HRM presents three star shows every weekend, for kids 5+ and 8+, from a repertory of ten feature shows. The age appropriate shows range from One World, One Sky produced by Sesame Workshop and the Liberty Science Center for 5+ and featuring Big Bird and Elmo to We Are Aliens a 360° digital planetarium show narrated by Rupert Grint (from Harry Potter films) that takes an epic ride in search of evidence of alien life for 8+. Essex Steam Train & Riverboat Ride, Sat-Sun, 9/1-23 & Daily 9/28-10/21: check times: Take a 2 ½ hour narrated train and riverboat ride through what the Nature Conservancy calls “one of the last great places on earth,” the Connecticut River Valley. The train passes farms, waterfalls, and wetland habitats with blue heron and egrets. The riverboat cruise on the Connecticut River passes the historic Gillette Castle, Goodspeed Opera House and Haddam Swing Bridge. Fall Forest Weekend, New York Botanical Garden, Sat-Sun, 11/3-4 & 10-11: 11am-4pm: NYBG offers live raptor demonstrations, Shakespearean performance and guided tours of the Thain Family forest, the largest remaining tract of old-growth forest in New York City, during prime foliage season. You can even see the Forest from a different perspective with a scenic canoe trip down the Bronx River and spot birds that call this woodland home. Check back for updates. Johnny Peers & The Muttville Comix, Ridgefield Playhouse, Sun, 11/4: 1pm: Johnny Peers’ Comedy Adventure Dog Show, features Daphne, the world’s only skateboarding Basset Hound; Squeaky, the ladder climbing Fox Terrier; Mr. Pepe, who only responds to commands in Spanish; and Sir Winston, the Pointer mix who only answers to “Sir.” The show stars mostly dogs rescued from shelters. Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund Spelling Bee, Horace Greeley High School, Mon, 11/5: 7pm: This event is run by the students of S.H.A.R.E. (Students Have a Responsibility Everywhere), with all money raised going to support the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund. Disney on Ice: Mickey’s Search Party, Barclay’s Center, Wed-Sun, 11/7-11: check times: A brand-new adventure filled with world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics, and unexpected stunts! Featuring Captain Hook and Tinker Bell, Coco in Miguel’s Disney On Ice, Moana, Belle and the enchanted chandelier comes to life, Elsa in the icy world of Frozen. WTD Fave Rave: New York Botanical Garden’s Train Show: Sat, 11/17-Mon, 1/21/2019: NYBG’s Holiday Train Show in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory features more than a dozen large scale model train sets (some super-sized) zipping across a quarter mile of track and a landscape of 140 scaled replicas of iconic New York City buildings made of bark, twigs, fruit, seeds and pine cones. Including, the original Penn Station and Yankee Stadium, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Brooklyn Bridge. An absolute must do event! (2900 Southern Blvd. Bronx; www.nybg.org)

Circa: Carnival of the Animals, Performing Arts Center, Sun, 11/18: 3pm: The Circa Carnival, one of the world’s leading performance companies, takes you on a whimsical circus escapade inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ delightful salute to feathers, fur, and fins. Circa’s acrobats bring this classical music suite to life with juggling “zebras”, somersaulting “kangaroos” and “elephants” with street-cred and rhythm for a whole new generation of circus, music, and animal lovers. UBS Parade Spectacular, Downtown Stamford, Sun, 11/18: 12pm: Skip the Macy’s Day Parade and stay local with one of the largest helium balloon parades in the country. When we were there we saw the Pink Panther, Popeye, Underdog (our fave), Nemo, Mighty Mouse, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Miss Piggy, Spiderman and Kermit the Frog. Plus marching bands, floats and street food. Local! Ice Skating at The Harvey School – Fri, 11/23 & Thurs, 12/27: 12:45-2:45pm: In cooperation with The Harvey School, Jim Whiting and his staff at Bedford Recreation offers two hours of public skating for all ages at The Harvey School ice rink on the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Rainbow Fish, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Performing Arts Center, Sun, 12/2: 3pm: The acclaimed Mermaid Theatre, that has earned international acclaim for its unique interpretation of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, presents this original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s award-winning book The Rainbow Fish.
