Village Prime Meats: At $38 per lb. their sirloin steak may be for high rollers but their sirloin burgers are the best around. Once you’ve had their baby back ribs you’ll never buy them anywhere else, same with their D’Artagnan duck breast and breakfast sausage. We also like their Bell & Evans chicken, creamy Irish Cheddar and Kosher hot dogs. Yes they’re $18 a lb. but make these for guests and they won’t be offended that your not serving steak. Framings: This is where you’ll find Judy Willsey when she’s not riding her old black Schwinn around town. Judy has been framing since 1975, when she began working at her father’s frame store in Hawthorne. Judy went to Parson’s school of design and was a former advertising copy art director. Their busiest weekend of the year is Armonk Outdoor Art Show weekend when they get a steady stream of art show patrons. We were impressed when we saw a legendary advertising creative director shopping there to frame an oil on canvas he had just bought at the show. DeCicco’s: If your town doesn’t have a DeCicco’s, come to Armonk. This full service grocery store is a family version of Whole Foods – if you come from Italy. While shoppers sing their praises for their beautiful produce, meats and fish around the holidays you can find countless variations on Pannetone. The rest of the year, their Italian roots show in their selection of fresh baked Italian cookies and pastries and their homemade Italian sausage – in many variations.
