Celebrating Brave Women: The WONDER barre Armonk
Celebrating Brave Women: The WONDER barre Armonk: At a time when businesses are struggling with keeping their doors open or shutting them altogether, Bedford’s Robin Flamenbaum is opening a new boutique barre, yoga and wellness studio in Armonk. Aptly named The WONDER barre.
After a twenty-seven year career in the fashion industry Robin took a two-year hiatus and became immediately addicted to barre classes. “It made me feel good inside and outside. I felt stronger. I felt life had a purpose. And I started to realize that I could create my own studio and celebrate women of all ages going through different phases of her life,” she told us.
What she didn’t count on was a Coronavirus pandemic that would shut down most businesses, including gyms, just as she was about to launch. But that didn’t deter her and on August 24 when Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that gyms could reopen in New York under Department of Health Guidelines. she hit refresh and opened her doors.
Celebrating Brave Women
“I figured that the pandemic only created more of a need for a good wellness studio. And knew that once women get comfortable venturing out that their physical and mental health would be tops on their list of needs to address.” Robin’s decision to open a new business when so many doors are closing around her is a testament to her brave entrepreneurial spirt and passion for barre. And it is also a testament to how New Yorkers have bounced back and are beating this virus in the Age of COVID. You rock, Robin.
Livestream & In Studio Classes Are Happening Now
WONDER barre is currently offering both Livestream and in studio classes. “We had ten people join us for livestream classes in the first week. And we have a growing list of women who are joining us for classes in our 1200 square foot studio,” Robin said.
The WONDER barre is operating under New York State Department of Health guidelines at 33% capacity. Robin also updated the facility’s ventilating systems with Merv-13 filters and UV lights that are run every night. Both renovations had to be in place in order to pass inspection by Westchester County health inspectors prior to opening.
The studio is about 1200 square feet and Robin is currently limiting class sizes to ten max. It is light and airy with beautiful windows and a tranquil western vibe that creates a sense of calm. And it has all the props necessary for barre and yoga. The studio also offers boutique items from local jewelry and clothing designers.
Celebrating the WONDER barre team
Robin’s team is composed of certified Barre and Yoga instructors and many come from a dance background. They love to help others become stronger inside and out and are passionate about their customers having fun while achieving results.
