Chappaqua Farmers Market: Our Top Pick for COVID-safety!
Chappaqua Farmers Market: Our Top Pick for COVID-safety!: We give the Chappaqua Farmers Market our best ratings for safety and ingenuity. They have, by far, posted the the best information on the safety and hygiene precautions they are implementing for this year’s market. And best of all, they have set up an online- pre-order system, to minimize traffic at their market. Effectively, they have set up a curbside pick-up system. Good job!
Here’s some details: The first hour of shopping will be limited to seniors and/or immunocompromised populations and front-line workers. The Market will set up in the South Lot of the Chappaqua Train Station on a temporary basis – to accommodate enhanced physical distancing guidelines.
Safety Guidelines
Some important guidelines you should know before you go, the market is limiting admission to no more than two family members, and you must bring your own bags. Don’t touch any vendor items (produce, bread, etc.) that are not sealed or packaged. The market is discouraging shoppers from bringing children, encouraging health shoppers to shop for seniors and encouraging non-cash payments such as credit cards and Venmo. And, of course, maintain at the standard six foot distancing protocols we are all used to by now, no dogs, you must wear a mask and if you are feeling ill, please don’t attend the market.
For your safety the market will limit capacity, traffic all shoppers through one entrance and one exit, all vendors will wear masks and gloves and there will be no music, children’s activities or demonstrations.
Pre-order with these vendors
Best of all, you can pre-order from over 20 vendors from the markets site. Unfortunately, there is not a centralized order system so you will have to pre-order from each vendor. Nonetheless, we applaud the effort and note that it beats anything we’ve seen from the other local markets. Some of the vendors who are set up for pre-ordering include: Ariotta Food Studio (olive oils, vinegars and hand-made pasta), Bien Cuit (baked goods), Doc Pickle, Don Carvajal Coffee, Growing Heart Farm (tomatoes, vegetables) Hillrock Distillery (whiskey), Hive Juice Lab, Hodgins Harvest Mushrooms, Letterbox Farm Collective (pork, chicken, eggs, produce), Mangalitsa by Mosefund (pork, bacon, steak, chops, pate), McGrath Cheese, Momo Dressing, Selek Middle Eastern Cuisine, Stars of the Meadow Flower Farm, True Food (prepared soups & salads), Wave Hill Bread, and Wrights Farm (fruits, vegetables, eggs, pies, donuts).
