Chappaqua’s Winter Farmers Market
The Chappaqua Farmer’s Market (CFM) opened for their winter season at the First Congregational Church at 210 Orchard Ridge Road in Chappaqua last week. The market will be open every Saturday from 9am to 1pm from December to April.
Winter Market Fun
CFM recently sent out an appeal to the Chappaqua community seeking donations to help support the winter market. “Our outdoor market was a big success this summer so it was a natural to want to keep it going through the winter. But we want to step up our game so we’re asking for donations to help support some new special events at the markets from live entertainment and health and wellness events to cooking demonstrations like the cupcake decorating demonstration we had last week with the Food Network’s Zoe Geller – who is also a Chappaqua resident. We anticipate these events to be self-funding but we decided to reach out to the community to help kick-start the initiative and we’ve already had lots of donations. So we thank everyone for that,” said Meagan Founty Brancato, the market’s volunteer marketing manager.
New this winter
Over thirty vendors have signed up for the winter market including some new ones. Two of them come from GreenMarkets in the city. Breezy Hill Orchards is a new sign on that will offer their award-winning hard cider, crates of organic Hudson Valley apples, baked goods, fresh pasta, made with local produce and Hudson Valley whole wheat and buckwheat, and authentic tamales made with vegetable oil instead of lard. Yellow Bell Farm is bringing fresh local chicken, eggs, their healthful bone broth, a Union Square favorite, and their signature bourbon chicken pate. And the market has added a new baker, What’s For Dessert, from Bronxville who specializes in crostatas, pies, quiches, muffins, scones and spiced nuts. Other new vendors include, Big Bang Coffee Roasters, The Meringue Queen and Jacuterie, a Hudson Valley prepared meat maker of small batch Euro-style dry cured sausage, smoked bacon and fresh sausage – including British style bangers.
Outdoor market vendors return
Other notable returnees from the outdoor market include Wiltbank Farms’ mushrooms and Neversink Farms, a tiny “no tractor, no till” farm from Clareyville, New York famous for their organic greens and baby spinach. And there will be specialty prepared foods from NY Chup (gourmet ketchups), Bombay Emerald Chutney, Luxx Chocolate, Larchmont Charcuterie and Ariotta Food Studio’s flavored oils and balsamic vinegars.
Other vendors singed on for the winter market include Bien Cuit Bakery, D& J Produce, The Cheese Guy, Crown Maple Organic Syrup, Farm Eats grass-fed beef, French Press Café, Honey Locust Farmhouse, Joe Tomato Mozzarella, Madura Farms, Momo Dressings, Mrs. D’s Mediterranean Delights, Pie Lady and Son, Pura Vida Fishery, Skinny Buddha, SOHHA Yogurt, Talim Falafel Shack and more.
