ArtsWestchester Gallery Reopens with COVID Exhibit: ArtsWestchester will reopen its 4,800ft² gallery with soaring 20-foot-high ceilings and distinctive palladium windows on May 7 with “Together apART: Creating During COVID.” The exhibition features 250 works of painting, photography, sculpture, craft, song, and more by 224 Hudson Valley artists created since the pandemic hit just over a year ago.

CEO of ArtsWestchester Janet Langsam explains, “COVID-19 has profoundly changed the contours of our daily lives. At this time of great loss and physical distancing, many of us have turned to creative outlets to help us cope, to express our anguish, and to gain agency when we feel helpless.” Together apART, curated by ArtsWestchester’s Deputy Director Kathleen Reckling showcases a wide range of art forms that document shared experiences from quarantine diaries and cookbooks to handcrafted masks, paintings, photography, gouache and more.

Featuring Lots of Artists from our Towns

Some of the high works in the exhibition include, Eleanor Miller’s photo and gouache Pandemic Portrait (feature image); Pleasantville’s Lynda Schenkman’s haunting photograph Empty Oculus at New York City’s World Trade Center, and Adam Chaus’ whimsical Emoji Vase that imagines pandemic appropriate emoji images. The exhibition includes works from local artists including Marianne Campolongo and Shobha Vanchiswar of Chappaqua; ELO and Antoinette Wysocki of Armonk; Jackie Spector Linder of Bedford; Bryan M. Greene of Bedford Corners; Carol Paik, Michele Gage and Katrina Majkut of Pound Ridge; Corinne Lapin-Cohen, Daniel Willner and Rob Yasinsac of Katonah; Leslie Connito of South Salem; Ellen Brief and Bernard Mindich of Goldens Bridge; Leslie Bijoux of Somers; Loretta Butler, Susan Fasnacht, Roberta Lasky, Todd Shapera, James K. Zimmerman and Lynda Schenkman of Pleasantville, and Ann Goodman, Elizabeth Gourlay, Serena Norr, and Rex M. Pietrobono, Esq. of Mount Kisco.

Register to View the Exhibit

All visitors to the gallery will be required to register for an entry time and complete a COVID-19 screening survey prior to entering the gallery. All staff and visitors will also be required to wear a face mask, maintain physical distancing, and observe all traffic flow instructions while in the gallery. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the exhibition. Entry is free, with a suggested donation of $5.

Dates & Times

The exhibition will be on view subject to staggered entry times every 30 minutes from Friday, May 7 to Sunday, August 1. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Friday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm and Saturday from 12pm to 6pm.  ArtsWestchester is located at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.
