Bedford Chamber Concerts: Vienna
Anthony Newman “Bedford’s High Priest of Bach” (Wynton Marsalis) and Miho Saegusa and Emilie-Anne Gendron (Violin), William Hakim (Viola) and Alexis Gerlach (Cello) take on Vienna, the Austrian capitol where more famous composers have lived than any other city in the world.
The repertoire spans the full gamut of emotions that has immortalized the work of these composers. Mozart’s rollicking rondo finale in his Seranata Notturna, the Hungarian flourishes of Haydn’s final keyboard concerto, the intimacy of Bach’s unaccompanied violin sonata and, finally, the addition of Schumann’s musical brilliance to Bach’s work—all have contributed to Vienna’s standing as “the Capital of Classical Music.”
