Bedford Playhouse 75th Anniversary Celebration: Broadway Behind the Curtain: Fran Weissler
The Bedford Playhouse concludes its 75th Anniversary Celebration with the launch of their new series Broadway Behind the Curtain. The series premiers with the legendary Tony Award-winning Producer, Fran Weissler. Mrs. Weissler and her husband Barry have produced 28 Broadway hits, including Othello starring James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer; Fiddler on the Roof with Topol; Gypsy with Tyne Daly; Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters and Reba McEntire; the 2010 revival of La Cage Aux Folles with Kelsey Grammar; the 2013 revival of Pippin; Chicago, the longest-running American musical in the world; and most recently Waitress, which features an original score by Grammy winning singer/songwriter, Sara Bareilles. Together, they have earned close to three dozen Tony or Drama Desk nominations and awards.
Join BPH for this fascinating look at the career of one of the most powerful women in the history of Broadway with special musical guests Rob Bowman (Broadway Music Director – Chicago, A Little Night Music, Elaine Stritch: All About Me) and Amra-Faye Wright (Velma Kelly in Chicago, and award-winning cabaret artist).
