CMS of Lincoln Center: Milestones at PAC: The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center celebrate milestones in chamber music. Foremost on the program is Bartók’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion. Widely considered an ingenious creation, it that stands alone in the chamber music literature. Also featured on the program are two more milestones. Notably, Dohnányi’s delectable Serenade, was the 20th century’s first string trio. And Tchaikovsky’s String Sextet ne plus ultra, “Souvenir de Florence.” Boris Eifman used excerpts from the score for his 2005 ballet Anna Karenina.
