Friday Films Directed by Women, Selma @ The Chappaqua Library: Film buff, Carol Durst-Wertheim screens Ava DuVernay’s 2014 critically acclaimed historical drama of the three voting rights marches from Selma to Montgomery, AL in 1965. The marches were led by Martin Luther King, John Lewis and others. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture and won for Best Song – “Glory” performed by Common and John Legend.
The movie features notable performances by David Oyelowo (Martin Luther King) and Tom Wilkinson as LBJ. It received a 99% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
