Halloween in Sleepy Hollow Country: The Blaze Returns: Historic Hudson Valley’s iconic outdoor event, the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze returns on September 18 for 53 select nights through November 21 at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton on Hudson. The Blaze features over 7,000 individually hand-carved jack o’ lanterns in elaborate illuminated displays in a variety of themed areas on the Van Cortlandt Manor grounds. Including the Statue of Liberty, Jurassic Park, and the Museum of Pumpkin Art where pumpkin artists recreate old masters… all made of jack o’lanterns!
This year The Blaze makes an historic move by adding a second Jack O’Lantern installation the historic Old Bethpage Restoration on Long Island. Favorite installations, such as the Pumpkin Planetarium, make an appearance, along with site-specific installations such as NASA’s Lunar Module and a 12-foot tall ‘Welcome to Long Island” postcard there. The Long Island Blaze will run for 23 nights from October 2 through November 1.
These installations are a multi sensory experience, accompanied by Blaze: The Soundtrack created by professional musician, radio personality, and Halloween fanatic Richard Christy.
