Holidays on the Hill Lasdon Park Holiday Train Show: Santa is a big train fan and he will be checking out Lasdon Park’s annual train show to see Metro North trains travel up the Harlem Line from NYC to Katonah. Kids will get a chance to “interface” with Santa in Santa’s Workshop at Lasdon’s Main House. Expect holiday music, a fire pit, food trucks and poinsettias, bromeliads and gifts for sale in the Garden Shop.
About Lasdon Park & Arboretum
Lasdon Park and Arboretum, a What To Do Bucket lister, features 234 acres of woodlands, and gardens, a pond, a 22 acre bird and nature sanctuary, fountains, a historic tree trail, a Chinese Friendship Pavilion and an intricate system of park trails. The entrance and driveway to Lasdon Park were used in the 1987 movie The Secret of My Success with Michael J. Fox. The park’s main house was built in 1933 and was modeled after George Washington’s Virginia residence, Mount Vernon.
in 2016, Lasdon Park opened a new 2,500-square-foot, 28-foot high, glass and steel conservatory, fashioned after the Enid Haupt glass conservatory at the New York Botanical Garden.
Friends of Lasdon produce an extensive series of special events throughout the year including a Friday night summer music series featuring jazz, classical, folk-rock and pop music in July. The also present a large spring plant sale and Halloween events.
Finally, Lasdon Park houses the Westchester County Veterans Museum, with exhibits of photographs, historical documents, artifacts and memorabilia about Westchester County residents who served in the United States armed forces from the Revolutionary War through to the present. The museum serves as a backdrop for their annual Historical Military Vehicle Show on Independence Day weekend.
