Living at Jacob Burns Film Center
Living is the story of an ordinary man (Bill Nighy) reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence. Yet, at the eleventh hour, he makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful.
Written for the screen by Nobel Prize-winning novelist Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains of the Day), and adapted from legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru (1952), which in turn was inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s 1886 novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich.
