Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives Ridgefield Playhouse: Five-time Grammy Award-winner and mandolin virtuoso, Marty Stuart began his career at age 12 and by 14 was playing with Lester Flatt’s Nashville Grass. He went on to play with every country music legend from Johnny Cash to Travis Tritt. His band Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives won the 2017 Americana Music Awards Group of the Year.
Marty Stuart was featured in Ken Burns’ 16-hour documentary Country that recently aired on PBS. In it he tells the story of approaching then Country Music star Connie Smith after one of her shows to ask her to pose for a picture with him. Later that night, he told his mother he would marry her some day. Twenty-five years later Marty Stuart and Connie Smith wed.
