PACE Women’s Justice Center Virtual Dinner: In lieu of their annual dinner, Pace Women’s Justice Center(PWJC), Westchester’s largest non-profit legal center, will hold its CELEBRATING JUSTICE event virtually. The one-hour event will be live-streamed on OCTOBER 8, 2020 at 7:00 PM, where they will honor The Thomas and Agnes Carvel Foundation and highlight the extraordinary contributions of their C.A.R.E. volunteers. The C.A.R.E. program provides peer support to clients as they traverse some of their most difficult moments in the courthouse, facing their abusers once again.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse, fare additional risks and challenges: the concept of sheltering at home is difficult for all of us, but the PWJC clients are often quarantined at home with their abusers who may be tracking their every move, which reduces their opportunities to access help. Beginning in March, PWJC immediately implemented remote procedures that continued to provide critical legal services to the community via telephone as well as web-based platforms. Additionally, they are delivering increased advocacy and technical support to their clients to ensure access to available resources.
Attendance to the CELEBRATING JUSTICE VIRTUAL EVENT is complimentary but registration is necessary to receive the link for the pre-show networking event hosted by PWJC, please visit law.pace.edu/pwjc-event to register. The online networking session, will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm with the evening’s main program set to begin immediately following.
