Ridgefield Playhouse: Whitney Cummings
Whitney Cummings is a Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, writer, podcaster, producer, and director. Though Cummings became a household name as a regular roaster on Comedy Central’s widely popular celebrity roasts, she broke into the mainstream by headlining her own sitcom “Whitney” on NBC in 2011, establishing her as one of the most dynamic and original comedic actresses of her generation. She also created the CBS sitcom “2 Broke Girls” which ran from 2011 to 2017. Sexually charged jokes, riffs on dysfunctional relationships, and her honest take on being a single girl in a marriage-obsessed society were just some of the raw material that launched Whitney Cummings’ stand-up career, and she has continued to develop her signature incisive commentary on gender dynamics since. Cummings, much like her hero, George Carlin, has a moral point to much of her comedy. Her recent projects include having recently published her first book titled “I’m Fine… And Other Lies” and launched a podcast entitled “Good For You.”
