Sanctuary Series Dominic Cheli’s Brahms & The Schumann’s: Winner of the 2017 Music Academy of the West Concerto Competition, Dominic performed Prokofiev’s 2nd Piano concerto with conductor, composer and MacArthur “Genius Grant”recipient, Matthew Aucoin. In 2017 Dominic was named 1st prize winner of the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York City. Here he performs works by Brahms and Robert and Clara Schumann.

Dominic Cheli’s playing has been described as “spontaneous yet perfect, the best of how a young person can play” (Symphony Magazine).He enjoys a rapidly advancing career, including his Walt Disney Concert Hall Debut with legendary conductor Valery Gergiev and his Carnegie Hall Recital Debut, as well as upcoming CDs on the Naxos label. The Sanctuary Series enters it’s sixth year at the South Salem Presbyterian Church. Headed by Artistic Director Jane Newman and Chaired by Dean Travalino was designed to bring exceptional keyboard performances to the heart of the historic hamlet of South Salem.
In past years, The Sanctuary Series has presented renowned pianist Peter Serkin, a Grammy Award-winner at 19 who has collaborated with Yo Yo Ma; the 2016 International Classical Music Award-winner, Dmitry Levkovich; renowned cellist for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center – Carter Brey; Grammy-nominated pianist Andrius Žlabys, and Cipa and Misha Dichter who performed their four-handed piano program in S. Salem for an upcoming Carnegie Hall engagement.
