Sounds of Summer at JBFC: The Girl Can’t Help It

As one of the first Rock ‘n’ Roll movies of its time, Frank Tashlin’s The Girl Can’t Help It is a romantic farce about showbiz with a seriously great soundtrack that features the talents of many of rock’s earliest pioneers.

Filmed in Cinemascope, the musical follows down-and-out agent Tom Miller (Tom Ewell), who’s tasked with making a gangster’s girlfriend, Jerri Jordan (Jayne Mansfield), into a star. Instead, he finds himself falling in love with her.
