Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park is a 1.28 mile linear park over the Hudson River. Built in 1889 as the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge, it was decommissioned in 1974 after a fire destroyed the railroad tracks. It was rebuilt and reopened in 2009 as a 1.28 mile linear park for walkers and cyclists. It welcomes over 500,000 annual visitors.
