The Playhouse Collective: Dinner With Friends
A fundraiser for Bedford Playhouse. The Playhouse Collective is a group of actors, writers and directors with connections to Bedford and the surrounding areas perform a series of play readings.
The inaugural production is Dinner with Friends by Donald Margulies. Winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize. A VIP reception follows the reading – tickets sold separately.
The Play: Two married couples have been best friends for years. In their Connecticut home, Karen and Gabe, international food writers, are giving a dinner for Beth and Tom, which he doesn’t attend. It emerges from the heartbroken Beth that he has left her for another woman. Gabe and Karen are almost as crushed, having expected ‘to grow old and fat together, the four of us.’ When Tom shows up at his home in the next scene, late at night, he is enraged that Beth broke the news of their breakup in his absence.
The Cast: Starring Cristi Andrews (Law & Order, The Princess Diaries 2), Tracy Letts (Pulitzer Prize and Tony-Award winning playwright and actor) , Alison Pill (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Milk, Midnight in Paris, Vice, Star Trek: Picard) and Jeremy Sisto (Clueless, Law & Order, FBI).
