WMF Festival: Reggae Royalty, Capital Theatre: The Westchester Music Festival presents Reggae Royalty at Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre. This event will feature two of the I-Threes, the famous backup singing group that transformed Bob Marley & The Wailers into international stars. Namely Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths.
As a solo artist Marcia Griffiths hit the top of the Jamaican charts with her monster hit “Electric Boogie” that popularized the dance the Electric Slide. Judy Mowatt had solo hits with the songs “Black Woman” and “Only a Woman”. She also provided harmonies for other Reggae greats like Peter Tosh, U-Roy and Jimmy Cliff.
Also on the bill is Ken Boothe, aka Mr. Rock Steady. Both has recorded 23 albums. He is best known for his UK chart-topper ‘Everything I Own” and the classic “Moving Away” that has been covered and sampled by numerous artists including U-Roy, I-Roy and Bruno Mars.
