Grand Opening for The Bedford Playhouse
Grand Opening for The Bedford Playhouse: After a $6 million renovation and a community effort that began in 2015, the Bedford Playhouse will celebrate its’ Grand Opening with three days of food, movies and entertainment on September 28-30. Festivities will include parties, family films, “community choice” flicks, wine tastings, live entertainment and some very special guests.
Friday night is Red Carpet Night
On Friday night, the Playhouse will roll out the red carpet (just like the Oscars) at 6pm for live music in the Playhouse Cafe. There will be a beer and wine tasting event in The Worby, one of the Playhouse’s three theaters named after Board member David Worby. The Worby is a flexible use space that accommodates music performances; one act plays, art exhibits, and parties. There will be a Movie Trivia Contest in The Clive, a 40 seat theater for special events and intimate screenings. The Clive is named after Playhouse benefactor, 5X Grammy-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Clive Davis.
Curtains open in the Main Theater at 7:30 pm for a screening of “community choice” winner Dirty Dancing, Tickets for non-movie events is $19.47, in recognition of the playhouse’s first Grand Opening in 1947. For $30 you get to to party and see the movie. A $50 ticket will get you a plush recliner in the Main Theater. (For the true home theater experience.)
Party with Clive and Paul on Saturday Night
Saturday night is party night. A “conversation” with Clive Davis and Paul Shaffer kicks off events in the Main Theater at 7pm. At 8pm, the bar opens and, well this is what you came for. There will be hors d’oeuvres, champagne, an open bar, live music and dancing. $150 will get you into the party. You’ll have to dig deep for a William McKinley (look it up) to get into the Main Theater with Clive and Paul. If you want to sit front and center, you will need a Director ticket. For that you will have to raise the stakes to a Grover Cleveland. And if you want one of those fancy recliner seats, just turn your 401K over to The Playhouse.
Sunday is Family Day and there will be muffins & mimosas!
Sunday is Family Fun Day. From 11:30 to 3pm the festivities will include, Muffins & Mimosas, story-telling, sleight of hand, puppets live music, special guests and some surprises. In the Main Theater, there will be a screening of Despicable Me at 12:30pm. Or come at 3pm for a Sound of Music Sing-a-long. Sunday tickets are the same as Friday night tickets, ranging from $19.47 to $50.
