Best Menus HVRW
Best Local Menu: La Camelia, Mt. Kisco: (Lunch: Mon-Fri, Dinner: Mon-Thurs & Sun) It’s been a while since we featured La Camelia, Kisco’s hidden Tapas Bar & Restaurant on the hill in our HVRW Best Menus. The only caveat is that as good as their entrees sound: Roasted Duck a la Orange, Norwegian Dried Cod Char Broiled, and Lobster Ravioli. We’d just like to go to town on the ten tapas items on their menu: Empanadillas Gallegas (veal turnovers), Arroz de Pato (shredded duck with paella rice), Tostada de Gambas (grilled shrimp over guacamole). Chocolate Apple Tart Tatin, Chocolate Mousse or Flan for dessert. (234 North Bedford Road, Mt. Kisco, 914.666.2466, https://www.lacameliarestaurant.net)
Dubrovnik, New Rochelle: (Lunch: Mon-Fri & Dinner: Mon-Fri & Sun) This notable Croatian soccer loving seafood house, and 2021 Michelin Bib Apron-winner, is a sure thing for their catch of the day or their Monkfish Carpaccio. For HVRW Fall 2021, however, we like the turf part of their menu. Which features their famed Skradinski Rissoto (slow cooked veal); equally famed Sarma, pickled cabbage stuffed with beef, pork and rice, and Pumpkin Soup. That said, as yellow tomato lovers, we’re very curious about the Pasta Morski Plodovi, Croatian Fuzi pasta with little neck clams, and jumbo shrimp in yellow tomato sauce. The Cookery, Dobbs Ferry: (Dinner: Wed-Sun) Why do we always see the same hands? Chef David DiBari, the master of simple Italian country cooking, and a 202o & 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand-winner, is a repeat to our Best HVRW Menus list. Some of this year’s highlights include: Seared Brook Trout with pickled lentils, preserved lemon and shaved fennel; Honey Smoked Half-Chicken with creamed corn cacio e pepe, and a Strawberry Cannoli. His Duck Liver Cannoli, smoked cabbage marmalade, pistachios is a repeat – but who could blame him? Tough to get a seat. But worth the try. Peter Pratt’s Inn, Yorktown: (Dinner: Wed-Fri & Sun) Wow! Moroccan Spiced Heirloom Squash Bisque, Pekin Duck Quesadilla, Cider Glazed Pork Belly for starters. Za’Atar Spiced Verlasso Salmon, Artichoke & Spinach Stuffed Chicken, and a Prime Dry Aged Burger with whiskey roasted cippolini, 5 spoke creamy “Tumble Weed” House cured bacon and horseradish aioli for entrees. And Sticky Date Cake with toffee glaze for dessert from star chef and cook book writer Peter Pratt. All in a historic Revolutionary War colonial house. Ship Lantern Inn, Milton: (Dinner: Tues-Sun) Located in a house that dates back to the Revolutionary War, the Ship Lantern Inn has been serving a Hudson Valley award-winning fine dining menu for 97 years. Billing themselves as Contemporary American Continental, this year’s HVRW menu features Catsmo Farm Pastrami Smoked Wild Salmon with House Made Pumpernickel, Smoky Mole Rubbed Grilled Center Cut Pork Chop, Hudson Valley Chicken Scarpariello with smoked wild boar sausage, Caradonna Farm Apple Crisp with cinnamon and pecan ice cream, Lukan Farm Honey Infused Crème Brûlée, and Elderflower Panna Cotta with Weed Farms Pear Compote.
