Jacob Burns Delays Reopening Due to COVID
Jacob Burns Delays Reopening Due to COVID: The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) announced today that they are delaying their reopening originally scheduled for Friday, April 30 due to a staff member who tested positive for the coronavirus. A spokesperson said that much of the JBFC staff had been exposed as well. The at-risk staff is now under quarantine. Additionally, JBFC is conducting a deep cleaning of their facilities as a precautionary measure.
The spokesperson said that the temporary reduction in staff necessitated their decision to move their reopening date. The new reopening date is Wednesday, May 12. JBFC was scheduled to reopen with Nomadland, starring Frances McDormand and real-life nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells. Last week, Nomadland won the 2021 Academy Award of Best Picture. Chloe Zhao won the Oscar for Best Directing.
