Jacob Burns Film Center to Reopen
The Jacob Burns Film Center recently announced they will reopen their Theater doors on Friday, April 30. The film center has completed multiple safety improvements to the facility in anticipation of their reopening, including the installation of Bi-Polar Ionization air purification units throughout the JBFC Theater and Media Arts Lab. JBFC will implement a comprehensive list of safety procedures to maintain social distancing including assigned seating for all tickets. New York State guidelines allows theaters to operate at 33% capacity beginning on April 2. You can visit JBFC’s safety webpage for further details about their safety protocols.
Theater hours and screening schedules will be announced before they reopen. And they will continue to offer film programs through their Virtual Marquee, so you will be able to experience all the programming they have to offer, whether in-person at the Theater or from the comfort of home.
In celebration of their reopening, JBFC is currently presenting Projecting Light Through Darkness, which dramatically brightens the theater. This vibrant installation, paired with a stunning and permanent upgrade to the Theater marquee, brings light to their corner of Pleasantville after an unprecedented period of darkness for the JBFC. This work is made possible by a generous gift from Suzanne and Robert Harwood.
The installation will be on view seven days a week from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm through April 27, paving the way to their reopening. Visit Pleasantville to experience the lights, best seen after darkness.
