Latimer signs new property tax relief legislation
Meanwhile, Westchester County Executive George Latimer announced a new measure he signed providing property tax relief to help Westchester taxpayers facing financial difficulty this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Executive Order granted by Governor Andrew Cuomo and signed into law by Board of Legislators Chairman Ben Boykin and fellow County legislators grants the County Executive the authority to accept less than 60% of taxes due on May 15 from towns and cities. This new measure complements a previous EO Latimer was granted by Cuomo to remove property tax late fees for County residents and businesses. That bill authorized towns to reduce late-payment penalties by up to 80%.
