Pleasantville Music Festival Is Back
After a two-year COVID hiatus, the Pleasantville Music Festival is back. Now in its 16th year, New York’s Best Backyard Jam will feature 18 acts on three stages beginning at noon on July 9 at Parkway Field in Pleasantville. The festival features a wide range of popular music genres from Retro to Alt-Rock, Bluegrass, Funk, Irish Rock, singer/songwriters, and contemporary hit makers.
Festival Headliners include current hitmaker X-Ambassadors best know for their string of hits “Renegade”, “Unsteady” and “Boom” on the Main Stage. Their song “Renegade” was featured recently in a national Jeep advertising campaign. Other Main Stage acts include Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze (“Cool for Cats”, “Black Coffee in Bed”); 10,000 Maniacs featuring Mary Ramsey (“What’s the Matter Here”, “Like the Weather”, “Trouble Me” and “These are Days”); Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears performing their James Brown-style funk and R&B mix, and Clare Maloney & The Great Adventure, who perform regularly at Garcia’s at the Capitol Theatre for the Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead crowd.
Illiterate Light, who recently had a radio hit “Better Than I Used To” will headline the Party Stage. Rowdy Irish rockers The Narrowbakcs, from the Bronx and Pearl River, will also perform on the Party Stage, along with Retro Rockers The Breaks Inc., and Brooklyn alt-rockers Girl Skin.
Finally, Paula Cole, known for huge hit songs in the 90’s like “I Don’t Want to Wait” and “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone” will headline the Chill Tent stage. Popular Americana bluegrass band Cole Quest & The City Pickers & The City Pickers will also perform at the Chill Tent. Cole Quest is a Mt. Kisco native and Woody Guthrie’s grandson.
