Ridgefield Playhouse Returns on July 1: The Ridgefield Playhouse returns with a full slate events in July. The Playhouse is opening under Connecticut Safety Guidelines which include six-foot physical distancing and facemasks required at all times. Additionally, ushers will seat all patrons to maintain distancing and directional precautions. And concessions may be ordered on your mobile phone only!
While the playhouse’s July schedule is heavily weighted towards movies – there are some live events. Including some big names and even one outdoor event.
Their July movie slate that includes their usual repertoire of kids flicks, main stream movies and highbrow stage productions in HD kicks off with a double feature of The LEGO Movie on July 1 and the Tony-Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots captured live on the London Stage on July 2. More kids’ flicks in July include How To Train Your Dragon, All Dogs Go To Heaven from the Director of An American Tail and The Land Before Time; The Prince of Egypt, and Charlotte’s Web. Mainstream screenings include Bruce Springsteen’s Western Stars, Born on the Fourth of July, The Blues Brothers, and Ghost. Grown-ups can mark their calendars for Philip Glass’s Akhnaten with The Met Opera on July 5, Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch on July 9, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show Fleabag on July 11 and the late Mark Bramble’s 2018 production of 42nd Street at London’s Theatre Royal on July 18.
The Ridgefield Playhouse will return to live public events on July 16 with Saturday Night Live head writer Colin Jost: A Very Punchable Face in standup. And standup comedian Christine O’Leary joins 2019 American Idol finalist Jeremiah Harmon in an outdoor show on July 25. More live events scheduled at the playhouse include Don Mclean on August 13, The Capitol Steps on August 15, Colbie Caillat on September 4 and Madeline Peyroux and Joan Osborne on September 11.
